Trip to Salt Lake

While Morgan was getting ready for and taking his finals, Max and I took a trip up to snowy Salt Lake. Thanks so much to everyone for all your help. Grandpa and Grammie Mathie did a lot of babysitting (that was much appreciated!!) and Popa and Gramma Lewis did a LOT of hosting and entertaining. His "1st" birthday was a huge success and it was a lot of fun!! I can't wait until he REALLY turns one and we can celebrate down here with all of his "buddies!" My favorite part of the trip had to be spending so much time with Jenn and baby Kate. Max and Kate sure loved playing together and it was fun to see them encourage each other to walk and try other new things. Max now shakes his head like Kathryn and it's fun to see him copying her. Oh, he did learn how to give "5's" while we were up there and he still likes doing those!! I'll post some of our Newport trip later this week. Thanks again to all our family for the good time we had!

Morgan's Birthday

Poor Morgan just had to study all day and didn't really get to celebrate. We had dinner at our friends and had cake and ice cream but then he had to get back to studying for the rest of the night. It was sad enough that he turned 27, but studying all night? Now he's a poor, OLD med student!:)

Drinking from a cup AND walking...

Big week this week! First of all, Max has decided that he is no longer going to drink from his sippy cups when regular cups are around. He throws his cup over the edge and reaches for my cup. He especially loves loves loves my nalgene bottle and when it's around, he won't stop until he gets a sip!
Second of all, Max is WALKING!! He just needed the proper motivation: my cell phone. Yesterday during the day he took 4 steps a few times then when Morgan came home, he walked over 8 steps!! And today during the superbowl party at our friends house he did it again! Everybody loved him and it was the best time.
We're hoping to go swimming this week and go to the zoo so we'll post some pictures again soon.

Pictures from the week

The one with the Kix on his tongue, yea, he does that with almost all his food. It's so funny!

First Haircut (and last one by mom!)

Well, I think his first haircut looks AMAZING, considering he was ALL OVER THE PLACE! I read that when you give a child a haircut, you should give them a sucker and that will entertain them for an easy 15 mins. Yea right! Max was grabbing at the comb, the scissors, his HAIR (with sucker fingers!!) But what a blast we had! It may be uneven and funky, but he's still the most adorable kid to me:)

Slow Week

Nothing much happening here. Poor Morgan has been studying nonstop for the past few weeks - now we know why they call January the "Black Month."
Max actually has been taking some steps, with the help of me and Morgan. Morgan is SO good to play with Max! I can't believe how big he is and much he has grown. In just a week he's going to be 10 months old.

Latest stats

Max is 29 inches long = 70th percentile
19.12 lbs = 40th percentile (weightloss due to being sick over Christmas and his increase in activity is what the doctor said)
I can't remember what size his head is, but he's in the 65th percentile for that. He is so nicely proportioned! Got his flu shot and didn't even cry!! Such a tough little guy! Held his basketball the whole time and grunted. All the nurses thought he was the cutest guy they'd ever seen. But of course he gets that wherever we go...I think most people think he's adopted because he's always in his polo outfits and I'm pretty much in a ponytail and sweats!!
Anyways, the week has flown by and now I'm off to go watch The Office!!

So naughty!

He thought this was the funnest thing he'd ever done...doesn't he look so proud of himself?!

More holiday pictures

Stinkin' cutest
boy ever!!

Ah, the Holidays...

We had such a great Christmas this year! It was Max's first and he loved every second of it! We got to spend a few days up in Utah and although we were sad to leave, we felt better as soon as we got back to the 70 degree weather! :)
I just wanted to thank both of Max's grandparents for the wonderful things you bought him and for all of the babysitting! Popa Bill, I will NEVER know how you kept getting him to sleep, you are amazing!
Anyways, here are some cute Christmas pictures I hope you all will enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had such a fun Thanksgiving in Utah!! I think Max and I are finally getting back into our groove. We had Grandma and Grandpa Mathie come down and visit us last week and we had so much fun shopping with them and Max had a ball playing with them.
Max is getting to be such mover!! He is now walking along the couch and walls as he goes around the room. Morgan likes to let him practice standing on his own and he does really good, sometimes he goes up to 30 seconds on his own!!
Well, I'm pretty busy here getting ready for Christmas, so I'll post more pictures later!
Bye!
