I'm a mean mom

Take this test!
So you might not be a psychiatrist...and you most definitely haven't switched bodies with your kids (right?), but when it comes to parenting, you've got a lot in common with hardworking Tess Coleman. You're passionate and driven about your family and your career, and you do everything in your power to make sure that your family has it all.

Even when you're juggling a million responsibilities, you take most things you do very seriously. But you can certainly find that kid inside and cut loose when you need to. You just have to remind yourself every once in a while that doing cartwheels in the backyard can be just as educational as homework. Give it a whirl!

Best Buddies

Caging the wild animals

Sometimes when we go out, we lock Bandit in the bathroom with the child gate. The other day when we got home, Max decided he didn't want Bandit to get out, he wanted to get in with him. So I indulged him. It didn't even occur once to me how nice this would be if he would do it while I cleaned....or cooked dinner....or took a nap....;)

More birthday pix

Max's Finding Nemo Birthday

Yesterday we had a little party for Max with just a few of his friends for his birthday. The theme was Finding Nemo so Morgan and I set up all of his water toys out back and let the kids go wild. Between the swimming, eating, and pinata hitting, the time went by way too fast and Max cried when everyone left. But it was such a fun party, and Max had such a great birthday! By the end of the night, he was singing along to "Happy Birthday" and wanted to keep blowing out all of his candles. I can't believe he is already 2 years old! He loved opening presents all day and playing with all of his new toys. If we didn't have that extra "play room" I don't know what we would do with all of his stuff! I just have to keep putting things in his closet and bringing them out when he's in need of a toy! Thanks for all the calls we got from his aunts and cousins! You guys are cute and we are so sad that we can't have our usual family party together.
Another milestone we celebrated yesterday was, (drum roll please) Max told me he had to go to the bathroom and when I sat him on his potty, he peed! YAY! Then he did it again today! Granted, there have been accidents in between the two times he's said it, but YAY! I am so happy to see that in a very slow way, it's starting to pay off. So wish us luck over the next 6 weeks, hopefully things will just keep getting more consistent!

Easter Weekend

We got a visit from Grammie and Papa Mathie (and Uncle Wodan) this Easter weekend and Max had a ball!! He loved following his Uncle around and getting presents from Grammie and Papa! They got him a new swimming pool and I couldn't get him out of it today! I wish they could have stayed long enough to see him enjoy it, but they had to head back to Utah. Max was so sad when they left and cried to go with them. If Morgan hadn't been there, he might be driving to Utah right now....ahhh...just kidding! But we had a great time, Easter dinner was fabulous, it's nice to have Grammie around to make all those yummy dishes! Thanks for everything guys, we hope you had as much fun as we did!! See you in Disneyland!:)

Max's favorite spot

Max loves eating out at his new picnic table! Last night I let him eat dinner out there and he got all of his "buddies" and they ate dinner together. And yea, he really loves his ketchup! I finally had to take it away because he kept "dipping" his toys in it and saying "uh oh" and making me wash them off. I guess that's better than him licking it off, huh? It's important to be grateful for the little things I guess:)

Visit from Gramma and Papa

Yummy ice cream birthday cake!
Wahoo! Buzz and Woody!
Rainforest Cafe
Can I get off now?!
Naked Cowboy sporting the briefs

This weekend we had some fun visitors, Gramma and Papa! Although the circumstances weren't the best for their visit, we sure had a good time. We celebrated Max's birthday and he got some new Buzz and Woody toys (of course) and a GREAT new picnic table! We went down to the Arizona Mills and had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and that was really fun. Max was very nervous about the Gorilla's, but loved watching the fish. The next day we drove over to Palm Springs for my Aunt Pam's funeral. It was a hard trip but I'm glad Max and I got to go with my parents. There was one funny thing that happened, though. We shared a room in Palm Springs and while we were all asleep, Max started shouting "Papa" in his sleep. It was so funny and sweet because he just adored my dad the whole trip. Thanks, Bill, for all the playtime you had with Max. He was really sad this morning to see your bed was empty.
Thanks again for the great visit, mom and dad! We sure miss you already and can't wait to see you in Newport! Thanks for all the groceries and shopping! And good luck with Ole and Ida!

Sad to leave

We just got back from Disneyland and boy was it hard to leave. Not so much for me, but for Max. He had such a blast meeting all the characters, riding on the rides, and of course, chasing around his "Uncle Wodan." I would say his favorite thing was the Buzz Lightyear ride. Or maybe it was running around Disneyland when it was empty and we were the last ones to leave. Or maybe it was the Monster's Inc ride. I don't know! He really loved it all! It was so fun watching him take it all in and get excited about it!
We really did have so much fun and it was so good to see Jonas get to be at Disneyland with everyone. He sure is such a sweet little boy. Lindsey and Whit are such great parents and we're so amazed with all they do.
Hope you enjoy the pictures! We're off to the pool!

Utah trip

We are back from our trip to Utah and finally feeling settled. We had a great time in Utah, but it's a lot easier leaving 20 degrees and snow and coming back to 75 degrees and swimming.
We went up to see baby Jonas's baby blessing and what an amazing experience. The spirit that baby has is incredible and I think Whit did such a great job giving him his blessing. Lindsey and Whit are so great with that adorable little baby. He is such a sweetie and we're so excited to go to Disneyland with him in a few weeks!
Another exciting thing we got to see was my older sister Jenn have her baby! Not actually see her have the baby, but afterwards, when he was all cleaned up. I know he came early because he wanted to meet his favorite Aunt Lindsay! But I really was so excited to get to be a part of that and see him before we came home.
Of course we're back right in time for Morgan to start studying for finals but, with the pool around the corner, I'm sure we'll find a way to manage passing the time;)
